The shortest distance.....

I wrote sometime ago about the shortest distance between two people is a smile.  And I wanted to add to that today as smiling is so very important, sometimes that othere person who needs your smile is the one looking back at you in the mirror.

Bitter/Bittersweet

When something bad happens we can have a bitter memory, bitter at life, bitter at people, bitter at whoever or whatever.  Feeling bitter serves only one real purpose to destroy the goodness in life. Bittersweet however is like the story line in a movie where a tragedy occurs and rather than it being bitter, it is bittersweet, opening up an understanding, that while bad things may happen we learn from them and instead of scarring the soul, by tweaking how we see it we can expands our soul, bittersweet, but infinitely preferable to being bitter.

My Eternal Journey (21)

As with the previous Sundays I have continued with 'My Eternal Journey', showing the end of the last segment of last weeks for continuity.

Now one may laugh and say this type of thing doesn’t happen now? Does it? Somewhere in the Eternal memory is a figure which reflects the number of people killed, tortured and enslaved in the name of a Deity or in the name of spiritual love.

The Eternalist recognizes the Eternal energy, which is known by many names, by many people, yet it is the same Eternal energy. All that differs in many instances between peoples is the name they choose to call the Eternal, sadly though it would seem this is all it takes to start killing people who share similar aspirations to their killers.

Many people who speak in the name of GOD are really speaking in the name of POWER, their POWER or the POWER they represent. POWER which needs protecting or they may lose it if people start to look at it to closely! The Eternal loves all, has a direct connection with each aspect of itself which includes every living being. Why would the Eternal wish to hurt itself?

The Eternist believes any person who seeks to change another person’s view by force lacks the truth; indeed they are uncertain themselves, for the TRUTH speaks for itself. It does not require force or manipulation of people. The TRUTH, an aspect of the Eternal, speaks to every human heart, however the questions is ‘Who is listening?”.

As mentioned earlier, Politics, the ill conceived child of Government has a lot to answer for.

There are people who believe they are free, free to vote, free to work, and free to live as they wish. This is where Governments and Prophets have a lot in common, but first we must amend the spelling of Prophet to profit! For Governments have the same singular problem that religions and Prophets have, the need for POWER. Match this with a population who cannot or does not ask questions, at least not the correct questions, and then you are as close to power heaven as one can get!

Governments take a basic truth then they bend it and shape in a way which serves their deeper purpose, their aim is to deceive by making something unpalatable look like something which is in the public best interest. Their aim is not the best interests of the people whom they are supposed to serve.

When did it all start to go wrong? The rich are getting richer and the poor poorer, no matter how they dress it up. The Eternist is opposed to Dictators, Juntas or any organization which does not represent the will of the people, yet the Eternist recognizes in the saddest of ways that they have a basic honesty about them which democratic Governments do not have. Our Governments tell us they have our best interest at heart whilst the ‘other’ rulers do not. They are out for themselves and the rest be damned.

This is not an endorsement for Dictators or Communism. People must always strive to better themselves; this is the way of the Eternal, as long as betterment does not come at the expense of another. A free market is a great thing, as long as it is a free market and not as the gambling quote describes all to well ‘having the deck stacked against you’!

It is worth asking the question, would Politicians work for nothing, their only goal to serve the people as the village elders did a long time ago? Would they work for a normal working person’s salary with limited expenses and holidays? Politicians hold up the excuse that they work long and unsociable hours, perhaps if they compared themselves with some of their voters they would be in for an unpleasant shock?

My featured wisdom art is "Seeking Wisdom"

Sometimes the harder we look for things the further away we push them.  Of course wisdom comes in many different ways, recognising it only requires the will to do so, keeping the mind and ego out of the picture until the wisdom seed gets rooted, the rest takes care of itself.

The Actor (2)

I wrote a poem a long time ago called the Actor. What prompted the poem was my own quest to understand myself. It got me thinking at the time of writing it, that we have different faces for different people. Or perhaps could it be just how these other people see us? Is it possible that very often our lives are more shaped by other peoples expectations of us rather than our own expectations of ourselves?

Back to the poem, I realised had a different 'hat' for every role I play in life, John the Partner, John the Father, John the Son, John the Brother, John the Financial Adviser, John the Karate Coach, etc.. You get the idea. I thought if I strip them all away, who am I? Who do I choose to be? Well after some thought I realised I knew exactly who I was, who I in fact have always been, John the Healer, who is a Partner, a Father etc.....

How often do we go through life trying to be what others expect of us, never finding our true identity. Even if and when we do find this illusive us, life is a journey filled with change and as a consequence we change too, for better or for worse, whatever we do the choice is ours.

The Actor

Here I am, an Actor
on the stage of life.
Often filled with love
And occasional strife.

Which ‘hat’ will I wear?
On the morrow?
The one of joy?
Or the one of sorrow?

Whilst at work
And appearing centre stage
Which part do I play?
Different from home, I’ll wage.

It is true that
There is many an act
All for different situations
Requiring meaningful tact.

Just like the show
Which is going live
Irreversible mistakes made
And no one to shout, TAKE FIVE!

The action replays
are in our mind
with hindsight, the correct attitude
easy to find.

But who selected us
For this part?
and did the selection happen
before life’s start?

Am I the Director?
Responsible for detailed scenes
Never knowing the plot
Or what it means?

Stardom can be an insidious
And multi-faceted seducer
I’m just thankful that I have
Without doubt, the greatest ‘Producer’!

My Eternal Journey (20)

As with the previous Sundays I have continued with 'My Eternal Journey', showing the end of the last segment of last weeks for continuity.

No matter how much we have climbed out of the dark there will always be those who seek to pull us back down again into despair. The world has always had this type of person. They often come in the most respectable of guises. They are the test, will they humble us? Take away our dignity? Strip us of our self respect and humanity?

An Eternalist’s thoughts

0n Gods, Prophets and politics

Since the beginning of time there have been those venerated wise people who spoke with the voice of great wisdom, no matter which GOD or GODS they worshipped. They believed in the way of peace, love and truth.

There are others who claimed they spoke directly with their GOD or GODS and when they spoke they spoke as if it were GOD speaking. Some were like the people the wise people mentioned above, others genuinely believed the spoke the words of their GOD(s) and in all probability some of them had some form of divine connection. It takes a great person to stand aside from their own needs, their own views, their own biases, plus the power this reputation as a prophet brings them. When the hunger for power takes hold the Prophet may not even be aware of it as it is so easy for ones own opinions, ones own subconscious, to color this ‘divine message.

The next natural stage is to extend the power base. For example, ‘The village next to us, or the town next to us, or the city next to us, or the country next to us, does not believe as we do! Our GOD(s) demands to be recognized by them!’ Direct or indirect action is now required to bring this to fruition.

The Eternist laughs and thinks of childhood and how children when faced with confrontation will tell the opposition that their Father is bigger than the oppositions Father. Very childish yet this philosophy has served humanity badly over the ages. “My GOD is the only GOD, he is mightier that you’re GOD, worship him and all will be well in your world!’.

If the other side did not capitulate there was a battle with two possible outcomes. The Prophet’s army gets beaten. The people are then told they were not worthy, that somehow their GOD(s) were punishing them. The beaten Army would retire and listen more to the Prophet who would instruct them more in what their GOD(s) wished from them and at the same time prepare them for the next battle.

If the Prophet’s army won then they would consolidate their win by killing those who would not change to the new GOD(s) then they would build another army for the next conquest.

All the while the people are taught not to think for themselves, why should they for who knows better than GOD?

Now one may laugh and say this type of thing doesn’t happen now? Does it? Somewhere in the Eternal memory is a figure which reflects the number of people killed, tortured and enslaved in the name of a Deity or in the name of spiritual love.

Peace

I had posted a few days ago my painting mystical and explained that it had started out as something different. This is a different painting however it sums up the message of peace which I have depicted with the IChing symbol for peace.

Truth (2)

My featured wisdom art is "Truth"

The following is an excerpt from "The Eternalsit" on truth

That the third foundation block of the Eternalist is Truth; for it is only when we have inner peace and love in our hearts can we recognize the real truth. In life it is very easy to shelter from the real truth for we wish to protect ourselves from potential emotional hurt and blame.

The truth is like a beautiful diamond, it can be the sharpest cutting tool or it can brighten and illuminate as light is distilled through all its many sides. If we see the diamond as the truth, then illumination from the diamond (as light is distilled through it), illuminates the truth in different ways. The diamond (the truth) has not changed however our perception, our view of the illumination may be different from anyone else looking at the same diamond. One person’s truth may indeed be the truth as they see it which is not necessarily the same as another’s truth; however it doesn’t make the other truth any less true. Many people have suffered; many have died because their truth wasn’t recognized by others as the truth.

Of course in life a person may present a truth, yet when they profess this truth they dress it up in a way which distorts the ‘truth’! A person who is at peace, with the Eternal love in their heart, recognizes when a person speaks from the heart and soul the truth will be known.

Why do people not tell the truth?

Is it because they are afraid?

Is it because they have something to hide?

Is it because they have something to gain?

When something is based on falseness, it cannot in the context of eternity, survive. The Eternal accounting system is perfect; one’s account must always balance.
